There's a good reason so many of the disputes on afternoon TV shows like Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown involve wedding photographers. A wedding is a (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime event, and a photographer who fails to show up on time, is rude or discourteous to guests, or simply doesn't produce any usable pictures or videos can't go back and correct his errors. And it's not like the disappointed couple can restage the entire wedding just because the photographer dropped the ball.

The same thing applies when you've hired a photographer or videographer to document an event involving your law firm—a speech, an awards ceremony, or some other once-in-a-lifetime occasion or honor. If you don't do your homework and end up making the wrong choice, you may wind up with disgruntled guests, disappointed clients, and, most importantly, a complete lack of photographic or video documentation that you can use on your law firm's website or in a YouTube video. As with a wedding, it's not like you can go back and restage the awards ceremony. The best you can really do is to scrounge among the other guests for someone, anyone, who took a usable snapshot of you accepting your award.
