There's an old cliché about big-budget Hollywood movies, to the effect that “all the money is up there on the screen.” What this means is that the budget wasn't devoted to high-priced actors flying to and from the set in their private planes – it was devoted to elaborate sets and state-of-the-art special effects. A good example of this type of movie is Avatar. You can bet that the vast majority of this movie's budget went into its effects and not into its script or cast!
The fact is that, unless you're a Hollywood insider, you won't necessarily know which special effects are expensive and which were accomplished on a relative shoestring. For all you know, that giant spaceship was completely computer rendered at a relatively small cost – or it may well have been built on another location and transported to the set, representing an investment of millions of dollars.
The point is that some special effects that you may consider to be out of reach for your modestly budgeted TV commercial or YouTube video are in fact relatively cheap and can be easily churned out by a professional on time and under budget.
