New LinkedIn Profile Features Allow for Video

Posted on May 17, 2013

In the event you've been living under a rock, LinkedIn is the social network for professional connections. You're able to promote your skills and your company, as well as connect with other like-minded professionals who share your interests. However, until recently, your personal profile was entirely text (aside from your profile picture). And, while you could link to past projects, you couldn't readily show anyone what you've done. Thankfully, all of that has changed now with a few key upgrades to the social network, which allow users to showcase pictures and video.

The part we are obviously most intrigued about at Gearshift is the video portion. If you were involved in making a video for your company, you will be able to upload it to your profile—this could mean you wrote the script, produced the music, or even handled behind-the-scenes details. The video can be added to your summary, work experience, or education sections, depending on where you want to put it. Either way, it's an amazing way to showcase the impressive work you've done. It's also a great reason to contact Gearshift because we can help you create professional videos that you will be able to add to your LinkedIn profile.

Another excellent part of the new features is that people can also comment on the media you upload. That means that, if they like your video, they can publicly comment on it, and your other connections can see that other people like your work. A sharing option is also in the works, which means your connections will be able to share your videos with their networks soon.
